About the Author

D. M. Bachmann

Science fiction rooted in curiosity, adversity, reinvention and the questions that refuse to go away.

A lifetime of questions

D. M. Bachmann grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where books became an escape from a difficult childhood. He spent much of his early life reading science fiction and fantasy, especially the works of Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Piers Anthony and Ursula K. Le Guin.

What stayed with him wasn't only the stories. It was the questions behind them: Are we alone? Where did we come from? What makes us human? What happens when the answers are nothing like the ones we expected?

Bachmann took a long and unconventional road to becoming a writer. His life has included hard turns, reinvention, technology, entrepreneurship, family and loss. Those experiences shape stories about ordinary people confronting extraordinary truths.
